Fish Plant Summary
The table below summarizes Trail Blazer plants since the organization
was founded. The number of plants increased about 50% per decade until
the 1990s when it stabilized. The number of fish planted per acre of
lake surface has decreased as more has been learned about managing for
a quality fishery and minimizing impacts on native biota and water chemistry.
The number of high lakes planted as a percentage of all lakes planted
grew from 36% to 63%. A high lake is defined by the Washington Department
of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) as one over 2500 feet elevation on the west
side of the Cascades and over 3500 feet on the east side. A few remote,
lower lakes are also managed as high lakes. Trail Blazers also have an
active beaver pond planting program. The WDFW named the Trail Blazers
Volunteer Organization of the Year in 1997 and in 2003, in appreciation
of their enhancement of alpine fishing and steadfast involvement with
the agency to promote conservation of fish and wildlife.

Lakes Named
The table below summarizes the lakes named by members of the Trailblazers.
Under the agnecy column, USGS indicates the lake is so named on the appropriate
USGS map. WDFW indicates a name in use by Washington Dept of Fish and
Wildlife biologists. NCNP means the name is registered in the North Cascade
National Park database. TBI means it is a name used by the Trail Blazers
resulting from stocking or surveying the lake.
