Randy J. McDougall - Snow Tours In Western Washington, 1976
Foreword
p. v: This book was compiled to fill a need for updated information on winter trips in the snow. The information was collected in about a month from Forest Service and Park Service personnel, touring clubs and equipment stores. The guide was published with the intent to update it for 1977.The Sno-Park Story
p. viii: Sno-Parks in Washington were originally plowed using fees paid by snowmobilers to clear snow from the areas where they parked to began snowmobile trips. There was friction between motorized and non-motorized users of these areas until the Sno-Park permit system was instituted. For a $5 fee, non-motorized recreationists could buy a Sno-Park permit allowing them to use areas previously plowed just for motorized recreationists.

p. 4: A sketch map of each region shows the location of each tour. Each tour description includes a summary plus details about the approach, parking, start and end elevation, topo maps needed, and difficulty (beginner, intermediate, or expert).
