In the Alps, where paragliding was born, mountain flying is at a different stage than in the Northwest. Most Alpine launches are accessible by lifts and the valleys are civilized. Cross country flying is much more practical here. Still, a gentle morning descent can provide a classic flight, as shown in this view above the Vallee Blanche.
