The dry hills of the Northwest interior have a subtle beauty. You have to get out of the car and walk for a while, smelling the sage and listening to the stillness, to appreciate them. Many pilots travel to these inland sites in the heat of summer looking for big air and long cross country flights. But for others, the most enjoyable time is autumn, when the nights are cool and the days offer more gentle lift.
