Needles, dirt, and especially pollen can be a problem at certain times in spring. They build up on skis like a coating of grease. Call it Cascade Klister. Gordy and Carl Skoog inspect the results after reaching timberline on Mt Shuksan. This is one reason why some Northwest skiers still use strap-on climbing skins.
