Cross country flying demands the ultimate in flying judgment. The need for critical decision making jumps as soon as you leave the launch site and its familiar landing area and seek out new sources of lift and consider new places to land. Since most flying dangers are the result of bad decisions, flying cross country means courting greater risk. For pilots with the proper preparation, it is a fascinating challenge.
